Eating mostly whole and nutritious foods is a great strategy for weight loss. Adding fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and lean proteins are likely to help you stay full longer and support a healthy lifestyle. However, eating healthy food doesn’t mean you can eat an unlimited amount of those foods and still lose weight. That’s because some healthy foods are calorically dense that tend to be tasty thus can be easily overeaten.

Here are some healthy foods to eat in moderation if you are trying to lose weight.

1- Avocado
Although they are full of healthy fats, they still contain calories. One serving about ΒΌ of a full avocado has 80 calories. Added to that, people tend to overeat guacamole where 2 tablespoons are worth 50 calories.

2- Dried Fruits
Dried fruits are another example of calorie dense foods. Eating whole fruits is a better choice since they offer a larger volume compared to the same amount of calories from dried fruits therefore, feeling more full and satiated. When aiming to eat dried fruits try sticking to smaller portions such as 1 tablespoon of raisins.

3- Nuts
The fats in nuts are known to reduce the risk of heart disease however they are extremely calorie dense. Include nuts in your meal plan as your snack or boost your meal but make sure to have them in moderation.

4- Peanut Butter
Peanut butter and other nut butters are marketed as high protein plant based food but sticking to one serving is really hard. A serving is 2 Tablespoon of peanut butter which is 200 calories.

Moderation is key to maintaining or losing weight. Stick to a whole food cookabox meal plan however, make sure you are not overeating. If you are trying to lose or maintain weight it’s a good idea to measure your portion of the things mentioned above to limit the chances of overindulging.
